How far in advance should I order a cake?

We recommend reserving your place on our calendar at least two weeks in advance. Occasionally, we are able to squeeze in last minute orders, so we always say, it doesn't hurt to ask. In any event, we will do our best to provide you with a confection that will be complimentary to your special day. Once your details are finalized, we will send you a cake confirmation by email. You'll then have a chance to review your cake specs and make any necessary changes/additions at that point.

I would like to order a special occasion cake and would like to know if I could meet with you or a staff member to discuss the design, cosmetics, etc.

Cakes By Tracey is primarily an online business; design appointments are available only for those who are interested in purchasing cakes of more than 70 servings and for those interested in wedding cakes. Our staff here will be more than happy to assist you in a very accurate and time efficient manner, via email. You can send us photos of cakes, inspirations, etc., including your color samples, copy of your invite... etc.

How do I know my order has been confirmed?

You will receive a confirmation from us by email. We ask that you review the specs and then let us know if you have any further changes/comments. Once your confirmation is finalized, we'll secure a deposit to book your order. We do not take personal checks, unless its mailed at least three weeks prior to your pick up date. We do not take out of town checks. We do not book orders verbally. If you have not received a confirmation from us, and have not made a deposit, then your cake order has not been booked.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we deliver, pending availability. Deliver charges are based on mileage and time of day traveling. Flat rate delivery of $35.00. Additional cost for holiday, rush hour and evening travel.

How do I transport a tiered cake?

Cakes By Tracey will provide written instructions on the best way to transport and store your cake. Please keep in mind that Cakes By Tracey is not liable for damages that may occur to any client-transported cakes.

I understand most of your cake accessories are made of sugar - like the ones shown here (shoe and lid) . Does this mean they are entirely edible?

Our accessories are hand crafted primarily from sugar mediums, making them edible. However, we mainly create them for decor purposes. Once they are created, they are dried and painted accordingly so that they sustain their individual design and structure. Our paste flowers are also made of sugar, but many of them are built on wires which are NOT edible. On the other hand, our cakes, which make up the majority of the composition, are whats most pleasing to the eye and palette.

Am I limited to ordering only a cake that is listed on your site?

No, you are not limited to ordering only the cakes displayed on our site. Most of our cakes are made specifically for that special someone our client has in mind. Feel free to tell us what you'd like to see in your cake. Tell us your theme, any colors you'd like to see in your cake, any particular decorations, etc. We'll take it from there.

How does butter cream frosting compare to fondant frosting?

Butter cream still seems to be the frosting of choice. It has a smooth creamy texture, rich taste and a favorite amongst guests. However, many love the look of fondant, but has heard that it does not taste as good as butter cream. Some fondants taste better than others, one of which is ours.

Fondant has a chewy texture, similar to that of a candy corn. It is a sugar dough that is kneaded, rolled to size and then draped and smoothed over a butter cream iced cake as a decorative finish. Our fondant comes in both vanilla and chocolate flavors.

In our opinion, fondant may be compared to the crust of a pizza, you may choose to enjoy it or leave it as you will still have a generous serving of cake and butter cream to savor.

You have a fondant covered cake displayed on your site and I would like it in butter cream. Is that possible?

It all depends. Because of the structure and design, some cakes require that we use fondant. As each cake varies, we suggest you inquire within and we'll let you know whether or not it's possible.

My friend ordered a book cake which fed 30. May I order a similar styled cake to feed 45?

Yes. Our custom cakes can be scaled up or down to accommodate the number of guests you'd like to feed. On occasion, we do find some cakes require a minimum number of servings to create the structure and design so desired.

I see you are closed on Sundays. May I still get a cake for that day?

Yes. Should you want a cake for an event that is held on a Sunday, you may either pick it up or have it delivered on the Saturday before. We will provide you with storage instructions and anything else that will pose helpful. We fully guarantee its quality by the time its served.
